Juncal do Campo is a little village in the municipality of Castelo Branco, with 22.18 km ² and 355 inhabitants (2011).
Juncal do Campo covers an area of 2218.1 hectares and is located on the slope of a hill about 13 km from Castelo Branco city, where, on the lofty mountains where it can be observed Alvelos, Muradal, Ingarnal, Gardunha, and behind of these, the must knowed Serra da Estrela


History

Artifacts (polished stone axes, Roman coins) in this region, leading to the supposition that it was inhabited by primitive peoples and then by the Romans. In 1165 the king Founder donated this land to the Order of the Temple to the people and defend the enemy. Once the region of Juncal came to belong to the town of Covilha, because according to charter given by King Sancho I, "The Settler" limits covering this area.
